St George Football Association (SGFA) is thrilled to confirm that Federal Member for Banks, Mr. David Coleman, has today committed $500,000 towards the new Oatley Park amenities building.
This follows the SGFA’s recent success in the Clubgrants Category 3 Infrastructure Grants program, where it secured $300,000, and should now see enough funding confirmed to allow Georges River Council to commence the process to deliver the project.
The Association has been working extremely hard in the past few years in driving and advocating for improved and upgraded facilities for the sport across all levels of government. SGFA completed a facilities audit in 2018 as part of a state-wide initiative which has highlighted a number of key challenges for the sport, including the need for new or upgraded gender neutral amenities buildings.
Craig Kiely, SGFA CEO, was thrilled today’s announcement. “Firstly, we would like to thank David for his work in securing this funding. He is a huge supporter of football in our district and this is a fantastic outcome for the All Saints Oatley West FC and the local community more broadly”.
“Facility and infrastructure development has been a major priority for SGFA in the past few years and we have made significant progress in this time”. “We have very supportive Councils and MPs and the amount of construction that is currently underway across our district is testament to this support”, Kiely stated.
Oatley Park is both a local football and cricket venue with Georges River Council recently completing the installation of a new irrigation system at the park.
